As per the G.O.Ms.201, Agril. & Co-operation (Horti) Department, Andhra Pradesh Government established Horticulture Polytechnic, Ramagirikhilla, at Ramagiri Mandal, Peddapalli District. on 24th October, 2008 in an extent of 10.19 acre in survey No. 21 at Pannur Revenue village obtained from Singareni Collieries Company Limited. The college building along with boys & girls hostels was constructed at Pannur village with the funds from NABARD under RIDF XVI during the year 2010. The college has an extent of 83.09 acre at Ratnapur village for development of Instructional Farm and conducting Research. With the bifurcation of Telangana State, Horticulture Polytechnic, Ramagirikhilla came under SKLTSHU from 2014 onwards.

The students intake per year is 25 No. till 2021 and 40 No. from 2022 onwards. Until now 248 students have obtained Diploma in Horticulture. Out of them 105 students were selected for B.Sc. (Horticulture) through HORTICET. Some of the students have been employed at private sectors viz., Teaching for Polytechnics, landscape architecture at resorts and GHMC, maintenance of farms, field officers for Oil palm (135).

Eligibility
i) The candidates seeking admission into Diploma in Horticulture course of SKLTSHU should have appeared for POLYCET-2022 under Agricultural stream conducted by State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET), Hyderabad.

ii) Candidate should have passed SSC Examination (regular/compartmental) conducted by State Board of Secondary Education, T.S. or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the Board of Secondary Education, T.S. such as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Council for Secondary Education (ICSE), National Institute of Open School (NIOS), Telangana Open School Society (TOSS), with Science as one of the subjects, and obtained at least 35% marks in the qualifying examination as applicable.

iii) Candidates with Intermediate pass or any higher degrees are not Eligible

Age
Candidates for admission into the Diploma course in the University shall be required to be between 15 to 22 years of age as on 31-08-2022 (birth date should be between 31-08-1999 and 31-12-2006).

Reservation of seats for the Rural (Non-municipal) area students
From AY 2022-23 onwards Sixty per cent (60%) of the seats in Diploma Horticulture course of SKLTSHU are reserved for students who have completed their schooling for a minimum of 4 years in schools located in Rural (Non- Municipal) areas.

FORM-I (Non-Municipal Area Certificate): It is a proforma to be certified by the Head of the Institution with his/her office seal that the candidate has studied for a minimum period of Four years in schools located in Non-Municipal areas during 1st class to 10th class and submitted along with the application. If Form-I is not submitted, the candidates will not be considered under Rural Area category.
