The present Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research Station, Rajendranagar was started as “Aromatic and Medicinal plants garden” in 1986 as a part of the scheme for floriculture and arid fruits at Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, in the then, Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University. The University was renamed as Acharya N.G.Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) which renamed the research station as Herbal Garden Scheme. The work was started with the collection, maintenance and evaluation of the aromatic plants suitable for the agro climatic region in 1989. A.P. Horticultural University was bifurcated from ANGRAU on 26-6-2007, and renamed as Dr.YSR Horticultural University in August, 2011. The name of the Center was changed from Herbal Garden Scheme (2001) to Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research Station on 30th, August, 2012. After formation of Telangana state Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University was established after disaffiliation from Dr. YSR Hortiucultural University on 22-12-2014. Hence, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research Station is now under the folds of Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University in Telangana State. Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research Station exists in an area of 14.0 ha with cultivable land 12.8 ha and working on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants to establish need based technology to farmers.

• Standardization of Agro techniques for important medicinal and aromatic plants.
• Standardization of propagation methods for important medicinal plants.
• To supply quality plant material to farmers, institutions and households.
• Distillation technology for extraction of essential oil from Aromatic crops.
• To popularize cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants.
• Establishment of crop museum in nursery center for medicinal plants
