The farmers Welfare Trust, JannaReddy VenkatReddy Smarakanidhi and JannaReddy Ragotham Reddy Kamalabhai Smarakanidhi through the managing trustee Late. Sri. JannaReddy Ragotham Reddy donated and registered a land of 108.21 acres to carry out inter disciplinary research in horticulture. The donated land was dedicated to the farmers of Andhra Pradesh by Smt. K. Kumudben Joshi, Governer of Andhra Pradesh for the establishment of JannaReddy VenkatReddy Horticultural Research Station, Malyal was established on 9th July, 1987

  • The Chillies Research Scheme, which was operating at Agricultural Research Station, Warangal was shifted to this research station during September, 1989.
  • The farm is divided into five blocks (A,B,C,D & G Blocks) in an area of 108.21 acres.

Mandate Crops : Sapota, amla, fig, karonda, onion, garlic and chillies.

MANDATE

  • Collection, evaluation and maintenance of sapota, amla, fig, karonda, onion, garlic and chillies with an aim to enhance yield and quality.
  • Germplasm collection and development of high yielding varieties in chillies and paprika.
  • Development of organic package of practices in the onion, garlic and chillies.
  • Standardization of fertigation technology in onion, garlic and chillies.
  • Postharvest management practices for improving shelf life and value addition of sapota, amla, fig.
  • Developing the location based Agro-techniques for the successful cultivation of sapota, amla, fig.
  • Conducting research in Chillies, paprika, Turmeric and onion with major emphasis on recommendation of different cultivars, improved package of practices and plant protection aspects.
  • Seed production of Chillies, Coriander and Garlic with an aim to supply the quality seed material of commercially cultivated varieties.
  • Production, maintenance and sale of different grafts and seedlings (Mango, Guava, Karonda and Acid lime) with an aim to supply quality plants to farmers of Telangana State, there by strengthening of revolving fund.
